Borderlands 3 has been in the offing for a long time with fans clamouring for a sequel for years. The last “true” Borderlands game (excluding Telltale’s seminal spin-off) was Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which came out in 2014. Since then, Gearbox have endured a rough ride with Battleborn proving to be one of the biggest failures in this generation of gaming.

Without mentioning the sequel by name, Randy Pitchford took to the stage at PAX West to say that they are “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on.”

Gearbox currently employs in excess of 300 employees with Pitchford also saying that 90% of them are currently hard at work on Not-Borderlands-3-But-Actually-Definitely-Borderlands-3. Pitchford didn’t say anything else, but the cat is all the way out of the bag and losing its mind in catnip as we speak.

The Borderlands series is published by Take-Two with CEO Strauss Zelnick recently mentioning that a game that fits the bill of Borderlands 3 is due for release between April 1st, 2018 and March 31st, 2019. Can you wait a little bit longer, Borderlands fans?
