Radiohead to Go On Tour in 2016, Festival Appearances Confirmed

After the fervour of speculation that At The Drive-In orchestrated their fans into this week with that absolute tease of a 15 second snippet they unveiled, promising only today’s date (we’re still waiting), Radiohead have gone classic Radiohead and splurged all their fans’ loads and lady-loads with a surprise announcement.

Not wholly out of the blue mind you, as rumours have been circulating for a little while now that the band would be releasing a new album this year. Pretty plausible rumours at that, given the band were writing through most of last year and began recording towards the end of it.

Then there’s the business of them registering a new company called Dawn Chorus LLP in January, which caused particular excitement given they had previously registered new companies prior to the surprise releases of In Rainbows and The King of Limbs.

With all that circulating among speculating fans, there were perhaps no surprises (ahem) when today Radiohead confirmed their first live shows since 2012 with headline slots at Spain’s Primavera Sound festival, Portugal’s Nos Alive, and OpenAir in Switzerland.

Whether fans were expecting ‘something’ or not is beside the point. This is big news with a capital B and an equally capital IG from the Radiohead camp with more news of further festival slots likely to follow.

Let’s not forget that they’ve been working on a new album either. It’d be rude not to drop it on the fly before that inevitable world tour kicks off. Radiohead have returned. Get excited.
