Quentin Tarantino Might Direct A Star Trek Movie

Deadline broke this rather crazy news yesterday, and the mind marvels at the possibilities, but it looks legit enough, so we’ll just go ahead and say that Quentin Tarantino is going to direct the next Star Trek film, due out in June 2019.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Quentin Tarantino is snappy dialogue. And then violence. Lots of violence. Now that I think about it, he’s pretty much the perfect guy to direct a Star Trek Film set in the Abramsverse. They’re verbose and they have plenty of action, something that has peeved more than one Star Trek fan that likes to bitch and grouse about the Star Trek reboots.

The hope would be that maybe, just maybe, Tarantino might bring some of his cerebral art house action to the franchise, giving it a jump start after the lackluster financial performance of Star Trek Beyond.

Right now, Tarantino is in pre-production for his movie set during the Manson murders. The next Star Trek sequel is scheduled for a June 2019 release, which could make things a bit tight. There’s no word yet on whether Paramount will adjust the Star Trek sequel’s release date to accommodate Tarantino’s current schedule.
