If you’re tired of the least attractive one on Britain’s Got Talent always telling you that an impressionist when we all know they are anything but, Scheiffer Bates is the perfect antidote for you. Louis Walsh would bloody love him, n’all.
Any dedicated and slightly weird readers of CV might remember that way back when, we covered the multi-talented Welshman in our infantile stage. This was in the days of us being ‘The’ Cultured Vultures when the only people who would read our stuff would be the people we forced to at gunpoint. And look at us now. We leave the safety off.
We’ve always been huge fans on his since we came across one of his breakout videos which saw him attempt many different impressions and nail each one. Â After recently coming across his legendary Omegle antics again, we decided to make Mr. Bates one of our Ones to Watch and reached out to him for a quick interview.
1. Hey Scheiffer, how are you?
Hi! Very good, thanks for asking.
2. Tell us a bit about what you do.
I am a voice actor, impressionist, or even ‘comedian’ some would call me. I have a YouTube channel in which I do impressions of many celebrities, TV personalities, cartoons etc.
3. When did you discover you wanted to be an impressionist?
Initially the goal or ‘dream’ as it were, was to become a professional voice actor. I completely loved the idea of voice acting in video games, creating the character’s voice and really having that sense of achievement of “yeah, I created that character”.
However, last year as a bit of fun I uploaded a video of myself doing over 100 impressions, and from there on it just went huge, that’s when I kind’ve had to put the voice acting ambitions to the back burner to allow my impressions work to come through.
4. What’s your favourite impression to do?
Jack Sparrow by far.
I love doing his drunken mannerisms.
5. How do you find having all your stuff out there online? You must attract a troll or two.
The internet is a fathomless abyss of enigmatic and uncharted area’s, you will never be the ‘good guy’ on the net, you simply cannot be liked by everyone. I’ve had dealings with many ‘trolls’ fortunately they’re just the minority, and I’m extremely thick skinned.
The outcome usually lies with my subscribers dealing with trolls for me, battling out in the comments section and whatnot.. it’s really quite amusing.
6. Aside from impressions, what other talents do you have?
The ability to laugh females into thy bed chambers?
Really? I don’t know.
7. And finally, why should we all subscribe to your channel?
Subscribe to my channel for the sake of enjoying unstructured entertainment, spontaneous comedy that doesn’t really make much sense but heck who cares?
