PSA: Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Has A Save Deleting Glitch On Xbox One

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

A recent update for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has added a huge problem for Xbox One disc owners, though it’s one that could easily be avoided if you’re aware of the pitfalls. If you’re unlucky enough to encounter it, you could lose your entire save file.

In order to trigger the bug, you have to download the latest update, then uninstall the game and reinstall it using the outdated version that’s found on the disc. If you then try to load the game using save data created before the December 5th update, the game recognises that the update isn’t compatible and prompts you to make a new save. Doing so will wipe you previous save, so don’t do that. Obviously.

Like we said, this can be easily avoided. Capcom are obviously warning players not to create new saves as it will overwrite your current data, and that you should make sure the game is updated to the latest version at all times to avoid encountering this bug. Capcom have also said that they’re unsure what causes this issue nor do they have a proper fix, but following the procedure above should prevent any save state shenanigans.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the imaginary console war, PS4 players are being given access to a free versus trial for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, which will allow new players to try the game online against both fellow trial members and existing players. The trial will of course be limited to those with PlayStation Plus subscriptions, but if you’re looking to boost your online rankings with some easy wins, this weekend could be your opportunity.
