PS5 Firmware Version 20.02-02.50.00 Hopes To Fix Some Console Issues

"Improves system performance."

PS5

While the PS5 might already be a commercial success and its games line-up is looking more than solid for the next year, it’s not had the most perfect of launches, whether that’s because they’re like goldust to buy or because the firmware is plenty unstable for some players. Luckily, PS5 firmware version 20.02-02.50.00 is out now for you to download and apply.

Here’s what it does, according to Reddit user -pLx- who first noticed the patch notes:

– The PS4 version of the game was sometimes installed from the PS4 game disc even after upgrading the disc version of a PS4 game to the PS5 version.
– Improves system performance

“Improves system performance” is a catch-all term for these updates and should be a familiar sight for anyone who spent years on the PS4. It’s fairly non-specific, but hopefully it fixes a lot of the issues. I’ve been honestly getting pretty frustrated with my own disc version PS5, whether that’s because the tile items on the dashboard aren’t showing, I can’t view the options for games, the whole UI freezes up, or because the disc drive sounds like it’s powering up for a Spirit Bomb. I may just have a faulty unit, but it definitely feels like a console produced in the middle of a pandemic.

Unfortunately, it seems like some of the more requested features, such as folders, are still a ways away from coming to the PS5. Hopefully it doesn’t take as long to add as it did on PS4.
