PS VITA

Last week, news broke courtesy of The Gamer that Sony were reportedly planning on shutting down the digital storefront for their PS3, PSP and PS Vita consoles. Yesterday, Sony confirmed that report to be true, with all three stores set to be closed throughout the year.

When Will These Storefronts Be Shut Down?

In an FAQ covering the announcement, Sony have revealed that the PS3 and PSP stores will be taken down on July 2nd, while the PS Vita store will be removed on August 27th. Both of these dates were confirmed in the initial report. You won’t be able to buy any new digital content from these stores after these dates, though any already purchased content can be re-downloaded, along with any PlayStation Plus game you’ve previously redeemed so long as you maintain your PS Plus membership. You’ll also still be able to redeem PS Plus membership codes, and any game codes purchased at retail.

It’s also worth noting that any funds you might have in your PSN wallet on these devices won’t be lost once the stores have been removed, but the funds will be transferred into your PS4/PS5 wallet, so either make sure you spend the contents of your wallet or save it for games on the console.
