So, it has recently been announced that indie-pop/electronica three piece Alt-J have finished their new album…and I for one, am really looking forward to it’s release.
Alt-J’s first album, ‘An Awesome Wave‘, released over two years ago, received critical acclaim and also won the 2012 British Barclaycard Mercury Prize. ‘An Awesome Wave‘ was an album a-wash with incredible musicianship and technical skill, which did very well commercially reaching thirteenth in the English album charts. The album was twelve tracks long, and featured odd gems such as ‘Matilda‘ and ‘Tessellate‘ as well as blistering tunes in the form of ‘Breezeblocks‘ and the heavy hitting ‘Fitzpleasure‘ – a whimsical three minutes and thirty nine seconds of bass and rapidly beating percussion.
The news of the forthcoming album was published on Alt-J’s website and was later announced on social media. The album will be published by Infectious music, the label behind ‘An Awesome Wave‘ as well as the releases of bands including the incredible Drenge and Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy.
The new album, titled ‘This Is All Yours‘ will be thirteen tracks long, and if remaining similar to the style of ‘An Awesome Wave‘ will be an addictive array of almost transcendent songs. The album’s artwork has also been revealed; an abstract and colourful design, featuring painted shapes and primary colours.
The album’s track list was published along with the album announcement, and can be seen below.

As well as the album reveal, Alt-J have also announced a string of tour dates across the world, including shows in Glasgow, Manchester, London and Brighton. Personally, as a fan of their previous album, I can’t wait for ‘This Is All Yours‘ to be released. I’m hoping for more of the eccentricities and oddities of Alt-J, and I’m hopeful for some new twists and experimental elements that usually come with second albums.
‘This Is All Yours‘ is released on September 22nd, and will be available on iTunes, CD and double vinyl.
