Pretty Little Liars: Could Wren be Charles?

The mysteries surrounding the identity of Charles DiLaurentis in Pretty Little Liars are only getting more enticing. This week’s episode somewhat unsettlingly saw the liars Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna rummaging through Alison’s house in an effort to find out more about him. In the end of the episode, Jason and Ali’s father disclosed some vital information about Charlie. But so far, I have a couple suspects on my ‘Who Could Be ‘A’ list’ and Wren Kingston is one of the few. Could he be Jason’s long estranged twin brother?

Marlene King herself said that Charles made an appearance in the pilot episode of the show. Wren (played by Julian Morris) was present during the first two seasons of the series, including the premiere episode of Pretty Little Liars. His personality was a tad bit deceptive during the first two seasons in view of his suspicious behavior. Moreover, this not-so-innocent lad had some secrets hidden under the rug given that he worked as a volunteer at Radley Sanitarium. Furthermore, when Mona was revealed as ‘A’ in the last episode of season two, someone visited her in Radley. Could it have been Wren? And what about his poor impulse control when he inadvertently kissed both Spencer and Hanna?

Many people have theories about Toby being ‘A’ but he is not the one who is messing around with the liars. After all, he is a police officer and last I checked, men in uniform do not play cat and mouse. For now, I deem Wren as my first ‘A’ suspect. He has not made an appearance since the third season, and for sure isn’t dead. So where is he now? This could only mean one thing: Wren could be Charles. But let’s not assume anything until the end of PLL’s summer finale.

Apart from all the emerging ‘A’ theories, another question remains unanswered since the first episode of the show: who is the ‘unknown’ person in Ali’s grave? It is surely not Alison’s twin sister, we have been down that road before. However, after watching the second episode of PLL’s sixth season, I believe that Bethany Young could be posing as Sara Harvey. And is it possible that she could be working for Charles/A?

Pretty Little Liars is all about shocking twists and secrets. Maybe Sara Harvey, who disappeared the same night as Alison DiLaurentis is the one in Alison’s grave and the girl pretending to be Sara is in fact, Bethany Young? I also consider Sara as a suspicious character this season. Why wasn’t her role highlighted in the previous seasons? Why did it have to be season six? There has to be a reason why Sara’s character popped up out of the blue.

Additionally, the second episode of season six provided some vital information about Sara Harvey’s troubled past. Maybe the writers of the show are headed somewhere big? From the start until the end, PLL fans need one answer: who is in Ali’s grave? Luckily, season six will be full of answers, and this summer we will finally (or hopefully!) know who Charles really is. It all boils down to some patience from our end and some disclosure from Marlene King’s side.
