Longcat is long.

Pokémon Sword and Shield may not allow you to quite catch ’em all, but the Pokédex is still packed full of Pokémon for you to collect and then give some very obscene names too. One of those is a special Meowth that can go Gigantamax.

Available as a Mystery Gift for those who play the game early, you can add Gigantamax Meowth to your party by pressing X and then going over to gifts.

From there, select get a Mystery Gift, and then get via internet. There will be a small delay while your game connects to the internet, and you will also require a Nintendo account.

Once that’s done, it should be as simple as claiming the gift as it pops up and then watching as Meowth appears out of a box, after which he will be added to your party. Don’t forget to save afterwards.

Gigantamax Pokémon are essentially bigger, more powerful versions of Pokémon that have increased states and size, as well as a supernatural glow. They’re pretty weird. Gigantamax Meowth will also have a new move by the name of G-Max Gold Rush.

If you want to change the name of your Meowth at any time, here’s how you do it.

The Gigantamax Meowth is available from now until November 15th, 2020.
