Pokémon GO: Dragon Week – What You Need To Know

Due to the commitment of the millions of Pokémon GO trainers who participated in GO Fest last weekend, Niantic have confirmed all the Global Challenges during the event were completed. This means over the next three weeks that there will be special events running, which entails extra spawns, new shiny Pokémon releases and new T5 raid bosses. Each different week has a theme, and the first week is focused around dragons.

The Dragon Week will run from July 31st until August 7th, and will go live at 1pm PDT (9pm BST/10pm CEST) and will involve the following bonuses.

– Special Wild spawns, including Alolan Exeggutor, Horsea, Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Bagon and Gible, all of which can be shiny
– New 7km Egg hatches, including Horsea, Dratini, Trapinch, Swablu, Bagon, Gible and Deino, all of which can be shiny including the newly released shiny of Deino
– Special Timed Research, which must be completed during this event and will include two separate encounter with Deino, offering you two shiny chances

To accompany these bonuses, Rayquaza will also return as a T5 raid boss, which a chance of encountering the awesome looking black shiny form. Being a dual Dragon/Flying type, Rayquaza is 4x weak to Ice type Pokémon, so you’ll be looking to bring Mamoswine, Weavile and Glaceon to these battles.

Niantic also announced that there will be a make-up event for the problems that some people experienced during GO Fest due to lag and issues accessing the friends list amongst other things. Anyone who bought a ticket will be able to participate in the new event, which will be 11am-2pm local time on August 16th. This will also include a free box in the shop, which will contain 2 Incense and 2 Remote Raid Passes.
