Poem of the Week: ‘No Sense in Waiting’ by Leah Mueller

The turnout for this week’s contest was nothing short of breathtaking. We’re always impressed with the number eager poets who sign up week to week but this time around we had a massive response, with pages and pages of excellent, fascinating work to sift through. Everyone who entered should be congratulating themselves but in the end there can be only one (and two runners up).

3rd Place
‘Seahawk Friday’ by Lauren Haldeman

Monday
I enter the city as I enter a house.
Mountains and metal. The weather-filled town.

Tuesday
I enter the signals as I enter a city.
Camplight and wild-fire. The alley-way’s beak.

Wednesday
On Wednsdays, lamp-light curls out a window.
I enter the signal into a keypad.

Thursday
I climb in the amber of a fog-lad’s container
and haunt the dark programs of uploading streets.

Friday
I enter a small cloud of words nodding off
under a glass-arch that filled with seahawks.
