PlayStation Plus Premium Gets Some Cult Classic Retro Games for May 2023

The new games for Premium subscribers to PlayStation Plus have been revealed for May 2023, and it’s fair to say that not a lot of them were expected. While Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow was a somewhat obvious choice considering how much of the Syphon Filter catalogue is now getting ported to the, erm, Game Catalogue for PS Plus, did anybody really see Pursuit Force coming?

Here’s every retro game coming to the PS Plus Game Catalogue for Premium subscribers this May:

– Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow | PS4, PS5
– Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light | PS4, PS5
– Pursuit Force | PS4, PS5
– Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered | PS4

Sony didn’t think we’d notice that they snuck in a PS4 remaster of a PS3 game in at the end there, but we did. It’s also the best Ghostbusters game of all time, so it’s totally fine by us anyway.

Pursuit Force is a bit of a cult classic from the PSP, one of the most video gamey video games ever video gamed. You jump behind the wheels of a truck, speedboat and a helicopter, while also commandeering enemy vehicles when you knacker your current ride. It’s like Burnout meets something like Dead To Rights and it’s absolutely just a tonne of fun.

Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light is another PSP game that’s getting the porting treatment to PS4 and PS5, but this time it’s a bit of a turn-based JRPG and, truthfully, a really strange selection. Upon release in 2006, it only managed a score of 60 on Metacritic, but maybe almost two decades later, something will just click with players that didn’t before. Pretty unlikely, considering even Famitsu only gave it a 26.

Itching to jump into these games? They will be up for grabs from Tuesday, May 16th, 2023. PlayStation Plus Premium costs £13.49 / $17.99 / €16.99 per month.
