October 2022’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog Doesn’t Include Any PS1 or PS2 Games (Again)

Still no PS1 or PS2 titles though.

Those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have likely been wondering about what games their membership would grant them in October, but now they no longer have to wonder. Sony have revealed a slew of titles for October, but those hoping for some more PS1 and PS2 games to be released are going to be disappointed.

The additions to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium members this October are as follows:

– Assassin’s Creed III Remastered | PS4
– Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China | PS4
– Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India | PS4
– Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia | PS4
– Assassin’s Creed Odyssey | PS4
– Assassin’s Creed Syndicate | PS4
– Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition | PS4
– Dragon Quest Builders | PS4
– Dragon Quest Builders 2 | PS4
– Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below | PS4
– Dragon Quest Heroes II: Explorer’s Edition | PS4
– Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition | PS4, PS5
– Hohokum | PS4
– Inside | PS4
– The Medium | PS5
– Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker | PS4

On top of all those games, PlayStation Plus Premium members will also receive a bevy of PlayStation Classic titles, with this month’s additions focusing on PS3 games, or in the case of Yakuza, PS3 games that have been remastered. Here’s the line-up:

– Castlevania: Lords of Shadow | PS3
– Everyday Shooter | PS3
– Limbo | PS3
– Ultra Street Fighter IV | PS3
– Yakuza 3 Remastered | PS4
– Yakuza 4 Remastered | PS4
– Yakuza 5 Remastered | PS4

It’s also worth noting that the PlayStation Access video for October’s PS Plus line-up mentions Ridge Racer 2 for the PSP as one of the games, but it’s nowhere to be found on the PlayStation Blog announcement page. We’ll find out what the status of Ridge Racer 2 is on October 18th, when all the above mentioned titles go live for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.

While there’s a lot of games for players to enjoy here, particularly if you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, the fact remains that there’s been very little in the way of additions regarding PS1 and PS2 games since the new PlayStation Plus tiers launched. You could make the case that GTA: Vice City – Definitive Edition getting featured billing is basically a PS2 game but with shinier textures, but it’s not quite the same. Where’s titles like Onimusha 3 or SSX Tricky? Hell, where’s Tekken 3?
