PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Sales Exceed 5 Million Copies

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Have you ever tried to stop a train? Good, because the momentum will kill you and it’s the same kind of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been using to steamroller the competition since its release back in March.

In the months since it first came out, Battlegrounds has been smashing every milestone put before it and has just surpassed another, according to Steam Spy. With five million copies sold, it is quickly overtaking some of the greats in gaming and shows no signs of slowing down.

Thanks to positive post-launch support and word of mouth, the Early Access game also recently overtook GTA V in peak concurrent players. It may never ascend to the same heights as Dota 2 in terms of players playing at the same time, but it’s giving it a good damn go.

While this has yet to be confirmed by Bluehole or PlayerUnknown himself, Steam Spy takes its data from Steam’s API so it’s fairly reliable. At this point with so many accomplishments under their belts in such a short space of time, they could be forgiven for getting a bit complacent, but they’re constantly updating the game and improving the experience. If you’re not much of a PC gamer, you can also look forward to its Xbox One version.
