Dinosaur Superhero Old Lace Will Appear In Marvel’s Runaways TV Series

Ever since it was announced that Hulu would be producing an adaptation of Marvel’s Runaways comic, the question that’s been on everyone’s minds was whether the character Old Lace, who happens to be a dinosaur, would appear.

Well, it looks like fans of the Deinonychus superhero are in luck, because the new poster for Runaways revealed at the New York Comic Con does indeed feature Old Lace in all her reptilian glory. Thanks to IGN, you can check it out below.

Runaways will star Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, and Gregg Sulkin. The show will focus on six superpowered teenagers going up against their criminal parents. Producer Jeph Loeb confirmed that the series will be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will share continuity with the other films and TV shows of the MCU, so superheroes are already vert much a part of everyday life within the show’s world.

We’ve seen plenty of monsters and aliens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there were even dragon skeletons at the end of The Defenders, although Old Lace will be the first dinosaur to show up. Animal characters from Marvel’s comic library, such as Rocket Raccoon, Howard the Duck, Lockjaw, and Cosmo the Spacedog have already appeared within the MCU, so it seems like she’ll fit right in. We’ll see how much of an impact she has when Runaways debuts on Hulu later this year.

Marvel’s parent company, Disney, owns a 30% stake in Hulu, so it’s no surprise that the streaming service was entrusted with Runaways. The series has been receiving a fair amount of hype, so a second season is already starting to look likely.

A ton of other shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe are also set to air soon, including Cloak & Dagger on Freeform, The Punisher and season 2 of Jessica Jones on Netflix, and season 5 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.
