PS4 and Xbox One owners will finally be able to enjoy the PS2 classic Okami on December 12th in glorious polished HD. The game will be released in physical format for the first time in America and Europe since 2008’s “remix” for the Wii – Okami HD was also released on PS3 in 2012 in digital form, except for Japan which had a physical release.

Despite being a commercial bust, Okami is still cherished by many players and critics, currently sitting at no less than 93 on Metacritic for the PS2 original. Inspired by Japanese legends and mythology, you play as Amaterasu, goddess of the Sun and Light, materialised in the form of the great wolf Shiranui. Awakened by Sakuya, Flora’s goddess, and helped by Issun, the errant artist, you are tasked to restore the world from the shadows caused by the rebirth of an eight-headed dragon demon.

Okami caught the public’s attention with its unique Japanese cartoon-like graphics and its gameplay resembling The Legend of Zelda series. If you haven’t played it yet, or just want to experience it all yet again, go get a copy on December 12th and get absorbed by this artistically beautiful game.
