Amazon just released the official trailer for their upcoming movie The Aeronauts, tempting us to get an Amazon Prime account while also providing Netflix with some much needed competition. The Aeronanuts, based on real life events, stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, who were previously on screen together 5 years ago for the movie The Theory of Everything, a movie which earned Redmayne his first ever Oscar win in the Best Actor category. The film is directed by Tom Harper, known for his film Wild Rose and his work on Peaky Blinders.
The Aeronauts has all the ingredients for a successful movie: Two fantastic leading actors, compelling visuals and a story of human daring and triumph. The movie features Jones as balloon pilot Amelia Wren, who teams up with pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher (Redmayne) to advance human knowledge of the weather and fly higher than anyone in history. While they may be breaking records and advancing scientific discovery, they still have to contend with physical and emotional challenges in the thin air. While Glaisher and Wren are a pair in the fictional movie world, in real life, Glaisher actually accomplished this feat with English aeronaut Henry Coxwell.
The Aeronauts will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before a release in theatres on December 6th, 2019, finally arriving on Prime Video December 20th, 2019.
