NXT UK: Three Championship Matches Confirmed For Takeover: Cardiff

The go-home tapings have provided quite the card for Cardiff.

NXT UK Takeover Cardiff

NXT UK visited Plymouth this past weekend and filmed two sets of TV tapings, both having huge implications for TakeOver: Cardiff. With the brand’s second Takeover event set to take place at the end of August, the card is now starting to come together with three marquee championship matches and a few heavily implied grudge matches.

So far, the majority of the NXT UK roster have found themselves a place on the Takeover line-up, but there are still some pretty huge headliners that have yet to be announced for the show. If you’re looking to avoid spoilers, then best quit now whilst you can.

The confirmed card is as follows:

WALTER vs Tyler Bate – NXT UK Championship

Toni Storm vs Kay Lee Ray – NXT UK Women’s Championship

Grizzled Young Veterans vs Gallus vs South Wales Subculture (Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster)

Rhea Ripley vs Piper Niven (Expected)

Travis Banks vs Noam Dar (Expected)

With this still over a month out from the pay-per-view, the card is still subject to change depending on injuries and what not. I suspect a few more matches might be added to the card as we the tapings are broadcasted, maybe giving the likes of Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Ilja Dragunov something to do on the big show in Wales, but for now this looks like quite the card.

I’m particularly intrigued by the main event. WALTER and Tyler Bate have both had a history of main event title fights, most recently competing in the main event of Progress Wrestling’s chapter show at Wembley Arena, putting on a top quality match.

Also, as suspected, the welsh-born team of Mandrews and Flash Morgan Webster will be competing for the NXT UK Tag titles. Should they win the titles in Cardiff, we should be in store for an amazing moment for the hometown fans.
