NXT News: Finn Balor & Tommaso Ciampa Return After NXT Championship Match

The NXT title scene is officially stacked.

Of course NXT had to pull out the big guns in order to compete with AEW Dynamite’s premiere, but nobody expected to see these two former NXT Champions make their return. Finn Balor and Tommaso Ciampa both made their triumphant returns from injuries and self-imposed hiatus’ to challenge victorious NXT Champion, Adam Cole.

Cole defended his NXT title against ‘The Original Bro’ Matt Riddle, who had earned a shot after defeating Killian Dain in last week’s street fight. Following Cole’s victory, Balor hit the ring and claimed that “as of now, Finn Balor is NXT”. Sporting a new look, it’s safe to say that ‘The Extraordinary Man’ is back where he belongs.

If that wasn’t enough of a threat to Cole’s prophecy, up on the entrance ramp he was faced down by Tommaso Ciampa, who also set his sights on ‘Goldie’.

NXT was packed full of massive surprises and huge title defences, with Shayna Baszler and the rest of The Undisputed Era defending their respective Women’s and Tag Team Championships against Candice LaRae and The Street Profits. Damien Priest also made his intentions clear by attacking Pete Dunne after a match with Danny Burch.

Needless to say, this was a great counter to AEW’s debut show on TNT. Will they be able to keep it up? Let us know in the comments below.
