Destiny is a game with many, many problems. As well being a grind about as satisfying as actually grinding your testicles along a skate rail, its voice cast sounded about as enthusiastic as a dog being taken to a neutering, particularly Peter Dinklage.

After negative reaction to his portrayal of AI NPC Ghost, it has been announced that Dinklage will be replaced by gaming hero and all-round caramel voice Nolan North. Having taken over the role for recent expansion The Taken King, Bungie were so impressed with his performance that they have now completely re-recorded all of the character’s dialogue with North instead of Dinklage. Ouch.

“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” said creative director Luke Smith.

“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it,” North said. “They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”

A pretty dramatic turnaround in talent but when your game costs half a billion dollars to make, you might want to smooth out some of the rough edges. No doubt Dinklage will be resorting to cheap wine and hookers just like Tyrion after losing out on such an easy paycheck.
