No Nathan Drake in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Confirms Naughty Dog

The Lost LEgacy

Anyone hopeful for a cameo from Nathan Drake in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a canonical spin-off featuring a new lead, will be disappointed. He’s probably playing Crash Team Racing.

Posting on the PlayStation Blog, writer Josh Scherr shot down hopes by saying that they thought about including the series’ hero in there somewhere, but that it would be better to start afresh:

“We entertained a few possible ideas around including Nate as a secondary character. But everything we did felt superfluous because we tied it all up with Uncharted 4.”

Director Kurt Margenau also cemented their position that Nathan won’t be leaping across chasms this time out:

“We’re not going to touch on Nathan Drake in this at all.”

This might be a shame for some fans, but Drake’s story was wrapped up in A Thief’s End. If the Uncharted series is going to continue, new characters need to stand on their own. Even though Chloe and Nadine, Lost Legacy’s protagonists, have been in the games before, they’ve never quite been under the microscope like this before.

Uncharted: The Last Legacy is due out later this year. It’s a standalone expansion to the events of Uncharted 4, much in the same way that Left Behind was to The Last of Us.

In other Uncharted 4 news, it just recently won another GOTY award.
