Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con Controllers Cost Way Too Much in the UK

Switch controllers

The hotly-anticipated Nintendo Switch was properly unveiled this morning and did its best job to kill some of the buzz surrounding it.

A lot of gamers aren’t pleased with almost anything about the console, from its paid online services to its low battery life when portable. It’s even worse for European consumers as Nintendo are keeping up the decades long tradition of overcharging when compared to other territories.

EU prices have yet be revealed, but British fans will have to pay over the odds to buy a Switch at launch. It will be £280 when currency conversion means it should be closed to £250.

Worse still, its accessories aren’t going cheap, either. You can have eight friends around with Joy-Controllers, but good luck finding a group who can afford them.

£75 per pair.

That’s what Nintendo, or rather UK retailer GAME (who more or less follow the RRP), are asking for. That’s a lot. Way lots. You can buy a left or right controller individually for roughly £42, which is still really steep considering the price of the Switch’s peers’ controllers.

Ah, Nintendo. Stop doing this.
