Nier: Automata Coming To The Switch This Year

Time to be 2B once again.

Nier: Automata

During today’s Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, Square Enix announced that Nier: Automata, widely regarded as one of the best games ever made, will be ported to the Nintendo Switch this year. This new version, titled The End of YoRHa Edition, will be launching on October 6th. Check out the trailer at the top of the page.

For those who don’t know, Nier: Automata is a hard game to explain, except for the fact you play as 2B and kill a bunch of robots. It’s also one of the most emotionally resonant and brilliant stories in gaming, while also being incredibly weird and unlike anything else. If you’ve never played Nier: Automata before, this Switch release is the perfect time to do so.

Far from just porting the base game and nothing else, Nier: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition will include all previously released DLC for the game as part of the package, along with a host of exclusive cosmetics for the Nintendo Switch version. Whether the remade version of the prequel game, Nier: Replicant, will also receive a Nintendo Switch port, remains to be seen, but it’d be great to see both games playable side-by-side on the handheld platform.
