New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Released

The Force Awakes Vader Mask

It’s here. The powers that be at the Disney Corporation have seen fit to bequeath us with another Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer. We are unworthy of such generosity.

The trailer dropped late yesterday and is currently in the process of being cross examined frame by frame by the entire internet. Highlights include a melted Darth Vader mask, a crashed star destroyer which has been left to rust on a desert planet and our first live action look at the movie’s new sith lord. Oh, and R2-D2 is back to bring sarcastic beeping to a whole new generation of movie goers.

We are also treated to the voice over of an unseen male character, the implication seeming to be he’s part of the Skywalker clan (or is it a red herring?). Much of the rest of the trailer is made of snippets of the films two young leads, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. That is until the Millenium Falcon shows up and we get a quick peek at a very grey looking Han Solo and a looking-good-for-his-age Chewbacca.

This second teaser trailer comes alongside a trickle of new details about the film from Star Wars Celebration 2015, a major press event in California. One detail which surprised many fans at the event was the reveal that the desert planet we’ve seen in the trailers is not Luke Skywalker’s homeworld of Tatooine, but somewhere else entirely. Where exactly? It was also revealed that Daisy Ridley’s character will be from a desert planet called Jakku. We’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Finally, remember that sith lord we mentioned earlier? According to some news sites he’s called Kylo Ren and is played by rising star Adam Driver. If you do some digging online there’s already a few bits of leaked artwork knocking about of him and his mask.
