Nintendo have announced that New Pokémon Snap, which lets you take pictures of Pokémon in their natural habitats, will be launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on April 30th. To celebrate this news, there’s a brand new trailer filled with footage and details you can check out at the top of the page.

What Is New Pokémon Snap?

New Pokémon Snap is the sequel to Pokémon Snap, a Nintendo 64 game that’s become a bit of a cult classic. In that game, you rode a special vehicle through different environments, taking pictures of Pokémon as they interacted with each other. Along the way, you’d try to snap special events, document all the Pokémon and just generally have a nice, chill time.

New Pokémon Snap will take you to the Lental region in order to do a lot of the same stuff. You’ll play as a budding Pokémon photographer trying to work with Professor Mirror and his assistant, Rita, as they conduct an ecological survey of the island region.

What’s New With New Pokémon Snap?

It wouldn’t be a Pokémon game without some kind of new phenomenon affecting the Pokémon and plant life in that areas. Galar had Dynamaxing, but the Lental region introduces Illumina, which causes Pokémon to emit a strange glow. As part of the ecological survey, you’ll be trying to get to the bottom of this strange occurrence.
