We're rounding up the week in games like a panel show now.

January might have been a bit slow for game releases, but we’re slowly approaching that period after Christmas when game releases tend to pick up again. While this current week’s games line-up isn’t the most staggering the world has ever seen, there should be something here for you to enjoy. Here’s the biggest new games for this week.

Little Nightmares 2 | February 11th

Developer: Tarsier Studio
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Platform(s): PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Stadia

Tarsier and Bandai Namco struck gold a few years back with the release of Little Nightmares, a tense horror experience that traded the big jump scares for an overwhelming, oppressive sense of dread. Well, like all good horror franchises where the first one does exceptionally well, it’s time for the possibly unplanned but nonetheless welcomed sequel.

Little Nightmares 2 follows on from the plot of the first game, opting for a more of the same approach to gameplay, only with bigger levels, grander set-pieces and new characters to boot. Time will tell on whether or not it’ll live up to the runaway success that its predecessor enjoyed, but it’s an exciting proposition indeed.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury | February 12th

Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
Platform(s): Switch

The Switch seems to have made a name for itself as being not only the home of some fantastic first-party games, but also for ports of previous generation games that could use a new audience or chance to shine. The Wii U library has been raided extensively for this purpose, and the next lucky recipient to be adapted for a console people actually care about is Super Mario 3D World.

The Switch version of Super Mario 3D World includes the full Wii U adventure, which allowed 4 players to work together and complete dozens of tricky levels. It’s even been improved to support online multiplayer. However, the Switch version also includes Bowser’s Fury, a brand new adventure that sees Mario take on a gigantic, powered-up Bowser in larger, more expansive levels.

Gal*Gun Returns | February 12th

This is probably the safest picture we could show.

Developer: Inti Creates
Publisher: PQube
Platform(s): PC, Switch

Alright, you little horndog, we both know why you’d be interested in a game like this. Gal*Gun Returns is the waifu equivalent of saying you play video games for the plot. A likely story, and all that. Gal*Gun Returns has already been available on other platforms in Japan, but now it’s being brought to Nintendo Switch and PC this week. You know, if that’s your thing.

If you are actually interested in the “plot”, you control a male student at a school where all the girls just happen to have the hots for you, so you have to shoot them with a gun or something. Let’s just nod in silent acknowledgement of what you’re doing, then quickly do a 180 and go our separate directions. On three, okay? One, two, three!
