Netflix has released the first trailer for Iron Fist season 2, which showcases a lot is in store for Danny Rand played by Finn Jones.
In the trailer, heavy emphasis is put on the fact that Davos, played by Sacha Dhawan, who appeared in Season 1, will be taking up the supervillainous role of Steel Serpent as he brawls it out with Danny, using his own variation of the Iron Fist coated in a red glow. This isn’t a huge surprise however as it was hinted the character would take this road when he allied with Joy Meachum in the season 1 finale.
Other returning characters include Colleen Wing played by Jessica Henwick, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum and Simone Missick as Misty Knight, who also appeared in Luke Cage and The Defenders. Newcomer Alice Eve will be entering Season 2 as the supervillain Typhoid Mary, nicknamed Bloody Mary and Mutant Zero in the comics.
Fans may notice in the trailer Danny Rand wearing the comic book Iron Fist costume too, albeit a little goofy looking. This could be a prototype in the same vein as Spider-Man’s costume before the improved version, or perhaps just a simple nod to the comics. Regardless it’s welcome.
The showrunner is now Raven Metzner (Falling Skies, Sleepy Hollow, Heroes Reborn) replacing Scott Buck presumably after the mixed reception to Season 1. This could be an entirely different ride now. Each episode title has been released and are all named after a variant of the Iron Fist comics, which is an interesting theme to follow.
