My Little Monster: Season 2 – Will It Happen?

Shizuku Mizutani plans her life around grades, while Haru Yoshida behaves as though planning itself is an elaborate conspiracy. Putting them together produces a romance built from abrupt confessions, misunderstandings and one surprisingly prominent chicken.

Also known as Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, My Little Monster leaves plenty unresolved after its first season. Unfortunately, the anime has shown considerably more restraint than Haru when it comes to making another appearance.

When Is My Little Monster: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, our little friends, My Little Monster: Season 2 has not been officially announced and has no confirmed release date as of October 2026 — and anything new is very unlikely.

The first and most recent television season ended on 25 December 2012 after 13 episodes. A separate OAD followed on 12 August 2013, but this was a bonus story bundled with a manga volume rather than a second season, film or split cour. The episode history distinguishes the 13 televised episodes from that later OAD.

This means it’s been 13 years since the last bit of content. We would not keep waiting.

Aniplex still maintains an official series page and news archive, but it contains no announcement of further animation. The 2018 live-action film is a separate adaptation and does not continue the anime.

The completed manga provides more than enough material, although fourteen years without a renewal makes any predicted release window particularly speculative. No formal cancellation has been announced either; the series has simply remained dormant.

What Could My Little Monster: Season 2 Be About?

While nothing is confirmed, Season 2 could develop Shizuku and Haru’s relationship while giving Yamaken and Natsume more substantial roles.

The anime closes without settling whether Shizuku and Haru can turn their shared feelings into a stable relationship. Haru’s jealousy and tendency to react before thinking remain problems, while Shizuku must decide how much space she is willing to give romance alongside her academic ambitions.

Later manga material also pushes Yamaken beyond sarcastic observation. His feelings for Shizuku become harder to disguise, giving Haru genuine competition rather than another passing misunderstanding. At the same time, Natsume begins confronting her own attraction to Mitsuyoshi.

Kodansha’s Volume 5 description highlights both Yamaken’s plans and Natsume’s developing feelings, making it a useful idea of where another season could head.

Where Can You Watch My Little Monster?

In the UK, all 13 television episodes are available on Crunchyroll and the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel.

In the US, Crunchyroll carries the series, with additional listings for AsianCrush, RetroCrush and several Amazon add-on channels. Those channels require separate subscriptions and are not included with standard Prime.

You can get a “complete” collection DVD for the show, but bear in mind that its low print means it’s a bit wildly expensive.

Can You Read The Manga While You Wait?

Yep. Kodansha publishes Robico’s complete 13-volume manga in English.

Volume 5 is a practical continuation point, although the anime rearranges some chapters, making Volume 1 preferable for the complete story. The official Kodansha series page lists the English releases in print and digital formats. Volume 13 is an extra-long final collection containing the conclusion and additional character stories.

Unlike the anime, it eventually requires Haru and Shizuku to finish the conversation.
