Multiple Games Developed By Respawn Entertainment Releasing Next Year

An EA earnings call revealed that Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind the Titanfall series, will be releasing multiple games next year.

There was no word on what these games might be, although we learned at this year’s E3 that Respawn are working on Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, so it’s safe to assume that could be one of them. In addition to this, we know that Respawn are developing a VR shooter for the Oculus Rift, and although it has yet to be officially confirmed, there is speculation that they could also be working on a third Titanfall game.

This news came from a prepared remarks document issued by EA, where chief executive officer Andrew Wilson was quoted as saying “across multiple studios, we have new projects underway, including games from Respawn that are slated to launch by next holiday season.” This quote starts at the end of page seven and goes on to page eight.

Respawn was purchased by EA for $151 million last November, so it makes sense that the publisher would put them to work on more than one game to see a return on their investment. EA would also be open to litigation if they supplied false information to investors during a conference call, which means that what Wilson said is almost certainly correct. Chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen also responded to the speculation, saying that the use of the word ‘games’ in the plural sense was intentional, calling it a ‘little Easter egg’. In other words, we now know for sure that Respawn are working on multiple projects set to be released next year, so we’ll just have to sit tight until we find out more.

Regarding Jedi Fallen Order, the game will take place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and it will follow a Padawan who survived Order 66. On the other hand, fans will probably be thrilled if a third entry in the Titanfall franchise is indeed in development, so watch this space.
