NetherRealm Studios finally lifted the lid on Mortal Kombat 1, the next instalment of their long-running fighting game franchise. This new instalment reboots the series, bringing klassic kombatants back with new looks, backstories and moves, but with the previous game, Mortal Kombat 11, currently available on Xbox Game Pass, some people will be wondering if Mortal Kombat 1 will also be making its way to Game Pass too.
Mortal Kombat 1 on Xbox Game Pass
As of right now, Mortal Kombat 1 has not been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass, meaning it will not be available as part of the service at launch. That doesn’t mean that MK1 won’t be added to the service in the future though, as again, Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available on Game Pass. Fellow NetherRealm Studios game Injustice 2 is also available on Xbox Game Pass, while previous MK entry Mortal Kombat X has been on the service in the past.
The point we’re getting at is that NetherRealm Studios seem to have a great relationship with Microsoft when it comes to putting their games on Xbox Game Pass, so we shouldn’t be surprised to see Mortal Kombat 1 come to the service at some point in the future. MK1 has confrmed that a Kombat Pack will be released after launch, which will include new characters and Kameo fighters, and if Mortal Kombat 11’s Game Pass inclusion is anything to go by, MK1 will probably be added to Game Pass after Kombat Pack 1 drops.
About Mortal Kombat 1
As mentioned earlier, Mortal Kombat 1 is the beginning of a new era for the MK series. Following on from the ending of Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode, MK 1 is set in a brand new universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. In this universe, certain key details about the world have been changed, with Kitana and Mileena working together, while Scorpion and Sub-Zero are actual brothers. Not everything has changed though, as Johnny Cage is still a bit of an arrogant tool.
Mortal Kombat 1’s biggest change compared to its predecessors is the introduction of Kameo Fighters, a separate roster of characters that players can choose from after they’ve picked their regular character. These Kameo Fighters work similiar to assist characters in other fighting games, with players able to summon their Kameo Fighters to perform special moves, extend combos and cause more problems for their opponent.
