The Miz Signs New Multi-Year WWE Contract

The Miz has put pen to paper on a contract that will see him stay with WWE until 2022.

According to PWInsider, WWE wanted to tie Miz down a longer deal but both parties successfully settled on terms that would see the 37-year-old Ohio native stay with the company into his early-40s.

The news comes as the reigning Intercontinental Champion and former WWE Champion is in the midst of the most successful and notable run of his career.

Having started from the very bottom of the WWE ladder in 2004, joining from WWE’s Tough Enough reality show, Miz, real name Mike Mizanin, has spent nearly 15 years becoming one of the company’s most recognisable and bankable stars.

Having retained his WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 27 (and being the only other heel to do so after Triple H), Miz has gone on to become the face of WWE Studios’ Marine franchise and remaining a versatile, aggressive and exciting performer both in the ring and on the microphone.

The Miz also holds the second-most Intercontinental Championship reigns in WWE history, second only to Chris Jericho’s nine runs with the prestigious title.

It is evident that WWE are prepared to put their faith in Miz once again as a top star with crossover appeal.

The Miz has long been a loyal, hard-working and eager competitor who has done everything the company has asked him to do with little to no complaint; working tirelessly since his 2004 debut to dispel the notion that he was simply a fan who had won a contest.

His passion for wrestling came to the fore in his infamous display on an edition of Talking Smack on August 23rd, 2016.

The Miz is currently due to take part in the Elimination Chamber on February 25, the winner of which will receive a shot at Brock Lesnar and his Universal Championship at WrestleMania on April 8.

The company announced last month that Miz and wife Maryse Mizanin will star in their own reality series titled ‘Miz & Mrs’ on the USA Network.
