Mojang have announced that they’re finally delivering a fan-requested feature to Minecraft, as they’re adding PSVR support to the game as a free update to the PS4 version of the game, and the update is set to launch this month. No solid release date has been confirmed, as the developers are still adding bits of polish to the mode, but it’s coming.

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Mojang’s Roger Carpenter states PSVR support has been in the works for a while now: “PSVR support has actually been a planned PS4 feature since we got the thumbs-up from Sony to bring cross platform play and the Bedrock version to PlayStation 4. There was never any question of would we, just when.”

The patch will be available for free to anyone who has purchased Minecraft on PS4 already, though obviously it’ll require you to own a PSVR headset in order to play. Once you’ve put your Ready Player One goggles on, you’ll be able to play the full Minecraft experience, only with the added benefit of immersion.
