Subject – Next Door
There’s been a lot of noise coming from next door for a few hours now. At first it sounded like the couple living there are getting pretty mad at each other, they never usually fight but tonight they were just yelling at each other.
I’ve been sitting here in silence trying to figure out what’s been going on since they started. I can hear the girl, Fiona, I think her name is, getting pretty frantic. Sounds like her boyfriend, I forget his name, has really pissed her off. Sounds like he’s left one of her external hard drives at the office or something. Must have been some pretty important stuff on it as she’s practically losing her mind. I really shouldn’t pry this much, but its helping me take my mind off Galen, the baby, Dee and Saul, everything. Its horrible, taking comfort in someone else having a bad time, but with the world the way it is these days, you’re constantly reminded that no matter how bad things are for you, someone nearby is having and even worse time, and theres a strange sense of solace in that. Its sick.
Theres quiet next-door now, everything went quiet after Fiona screamed “They are fucking blinding you” at her boyfriend. Theres definitely movement, as if one of them is packing up their things. Its strange, they’ve been together for a few years now. Its always horrible seeing a couple break up. They both seemed so nice, Fiona even watched over for the house for us the last time we were away in a recreation zone. God knows how long ago that was.
An APC just pulled up in front of the house. Couple of C.P guys are stepping out in front of the house. What the fuck is going on over there?
Fiona just came out in floods of tears with two duffel bags over her shoulders. She’s just seen the C.P and she’s just standing there in front of them as they shine their flashlights at her. Her boyfriend just stepped out of the house and he’s standing slightly behind her looking on. She’s just dropped the duffel bags and one of the C.P guys is grabbing her. Jesus christ he’s pulling her into the APC and she’s just screaming “They are fucking blinding you” down the street. Lights are going on all over the place, other people are looking out of their windows to see what the commotion is about.
C.P just hauled her into the APC and shut the doors on her. You can still hear the screams, they’re muffled now. The guy just handed one of the officers the duffel bags and shook his hand.
The APC is driving off down the street now. You can’t hear the screams anymore. The guys just gone back inside his house and put the television on.
