Meet Allison Road: P.T.’s Spiritual Successor Made by Fans

When it was announced the Silent Hills had been canned, I was one of many who took to their keyboard and howled at the moon in frustration.

After battling my through the terrifying and bewildering P.T., gamers were treated to the big reveal that it was actually just a teaser for the newest release in the Silent Hill series. Helmed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro with a star turn from Norman Reedus, fans were once again excited for a franchise that looked, for lack of a better phrase, like it was on its arse. So, to see it cancelled left a lot of fans confused and upset with many people blaming internal conflict at Konami. Quite what’s going on at that company right now is another story for another article, but it certainly isn’t pretty.

Although we may never see Silent Hills as it was intended, we can enjoy its spiritual successor, which has been lovingly created by fans. And yeah, it’s about as terrifying as you’d expect.

According to developers:

You will take on the role of the unnamed protagonist who wakes up one day without any recollection of prior events.

Over the course of five nights, it is your objective to uncover the whereabouts of your family, unravel the mysteries of the house, and face off against [dark entities] that are nested deep within the house, while the clock is relentlessly ticking towards 3:00am.

What would you do if you could feel something stalking you in the dark in the safety of your own home?

If you couldn’t tell what’s real and what’s not?

There’s no denying that it doesn’t ooze the same kind of sheer terror which made P.T. quite possibly the best teaser/demo in gaming, but as it’s in pre-alpha as we speak, we could be looking at even more brown pants once the finished game is released.
