Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Can You Romance Heroes?

As well as being quite the compelling deckbuilder, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is also an RPG that feels like Golden Era BioWare, thanks to its deep character relationships and the writing that supports them. Games like Mass Effect are known for also allowing the player to woo other characters and build more intimate relationships, but is there such a thing in Midnight Suns?

The answer is no, there are no romance options in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. While some of the other members of the team can flirt and grow close romantically, there’s no way for you, The Hunter, to romance other members of the team.

You can, however, raise your friendship level with other members of the Midnight Suns to unlock new cards and passive abilities. If you get max friendship level, you can even unlock exclusive suits.

While this might be disappointing news to some, the fact that these are licensed characters means that Firaxis’ hands were almost certainly tied. It would be a bit strange if, for instance, Iron Man started making doe eyes at a 300 year old undead warrior.

There’s also the fact that the license is effectively Disney’s, who are very conservative when it comes to who can be seen romancing who on-screen. It causes much less of a headache from a PR perspective for everyone involved if there’s no way of romancing whoever you want.

Step forward, modders.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
