The Hall of Fame is about to become The Hall of Pain, if the WWE WrestleMania magazine is to be believed. Everyone’s favourite power lifting sex addict was interviewed for the yet to be released magazine, in which he talks about the moment he was told he was being inducted. The official announcement is likely to be made on Raw to complete the class of 2018.
The former Olympian made his WWE debut way back in March 1996 and has been a constant fixture for the promotion ever since. Despite a rocky start to his in-ring career, Henry is a complete company man who has made the best of every gimmick he’s been given. From Nation of Domination member to the granny grabbing Sexual Chocolate and beyond, Mark has earned the respect of wrestling fans the word over thanks to his commitment to the role.
Despite entering the wrestling business through non-traditional means and being signed to an eye-wateringly long contract, Henry has developed into a locker room leader. Often mentioned in interviews as one of wrestling’s good guys, Mark will be a popular addition to the ever expanding Hall of Fame.
Henry had not been considered among the names likely to make it into this year’s class, with rumours widely circulating that Bam Bam Bigelow was set to be the 8th and final member.
His induction speech is sure to be memorable, with so much to draw from in his 22 year career. If his fake retirement speech from 2013 is anything to go by, there won’t be a dry eye in the house. The former World Heavyweight Champion joins fellow 2018 inductees Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Jeff Jarrett, Hillbilly Jim, Kid Rock and Jarrius “JJ” Roberts in one of the more divisive classes of recent years. There is no word yet on who may induct The World’s Strongest Man, but I’m sure the live audience will give him a big hand.
