It’s no secret that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still one of the Nintendo Switch’s golden geese, selling by the bucketload despite being a launch title for the console and also a Wii U remaster. Now, Nintendo are striking while the iron is tepid by announcing a paid DLC pass for the game, which will add a host of remastered courses to the game’s roster. Check out the trailer below.

The Booster Course Pass will consist of six waves of 8 courses, all set to be released by the end of 2023. These courses will includes favourites from across the length and breadth of the Mario Kart series, from beloved favourites like Double Dash and Mario Kart 64, to more questionable entries like Mario Kart Tour. Someone somewhere will be excited for that, I guess?

Pre-orders for the new pass are live today, with the first wave launching on March 18th, and it’ll set you back $24.99, but the catch is that the pass will also be available as a benefit of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, along with the Mega Drive and N64 emulators, and the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise DLC. Certainly, it makes the Pack more tempting, but if you’re only looking to play Mario Kart, you may as well just fork over the cash for the tracks alone.
