WWE UK fans can sleep well tonight as a huge pay-per-view has reportedly been confirmed for this coming September. Rumours began to circulate over the course of 2021 about WWE hoping to bring a major event to the UK, specifically in the glorious city of Cardiff, to rival AEW’s All Out weekend. After the confusion surrounding global travel and various other road-bumps, it seems that a date has been finalised.

Sources have stated that this long-awaited event is set to take place on Saturday, September 3rd at Principality Stadium in Wales. With a potential gate of 78,000 fans, this could be the biggest stadium event to take place outside of the US in years, with the last major UK pay-per-view event happening over 30 years ago.

Many traditional WWE fans will recall the legendary SummerSlam event that took place at Wembley in 1992, whether this event ends up being a sequel to that historic summer blockbuster is up for debate. It’s more likely, considering the date, that it’ll be the following pay-per-view to SummerSlam, with WWE looking to book as many star attractions as they can to make this a huge competitor for AEW’s biggest show of the year.

With former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre already calling out UK boxing legend, Tyson Fury, for a match at this event, there’s already a huge precedent for this to be a star-studded show. WWE themselves have yet to confirm this date, event and line-up but I’d expect an announcement in the near future.
