Like most games these days, Like A Dragon: Ishin features a deluxe edition that includes a host of digital goodies and extras to get to grips with. These range from new weapons, trooper cards for use in battle, upgrade materials, a Kazuma Kiryu skin for main character Sakamoto Ryoma, and more. However, the game doesn’t just give you those items in-game, so you’ll have to do some of your own legwork in order to unlock those items for yourself.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to redeem your Like A Dragon: Ishin Deluxe Edition downloadable content.

In order to receive your content, you’ll need to progress to at least the start of Chapter 2, so if you’re hoping to have some strong swords from the word go, you’re out of luck. At any point during or past Chapter 2, you’ll need to head to the Teradaya Inn, which acts as a sort of home base for you.

Once you’re inside the inn, there’s a doorway opposite the main entrance which leads into a kitchen of sorts. At the far end of the kitchen, stood in the corner is a character that Yakuza 0 fans will recognise: Bob Utsunomiya. Bob has been a side character in a large majority of the Yakuza games over the years, for the most part acting as a deliverer of bonus content.

Introduced here as Bakumatsu Bob Utsunomiya, this garish looking character holds any bonus content you’ve purchased, whether that’s Deluxe Edition DLC, gun or sword material upgrade packs or the Dragon of Dojima Pack. All you need to do is talk to him, then select the DLC pack you want to redeem from the menu. The game will ask you to manually save in order to receive the pack, and in some instances, you’ll need to make sure you have enough space in your inventory to receive the items it contains, otherwise you won’t be able to redeem the pack.

Like A Dragon: Ishin – When Can I Access The Deluxe Edition Content?

Despite being able to redeem your content as early as Chapter 2, that doesn’t mean you can immediately use every piece of Like A Dragon: Ishin DLC. Series veterans will be familiar with how the game drip-feeds content and new modes throughout the game, and Ishin is no different. With that in mind, here’s when you’ll be able to access the various pieces of DLC.

Weapons – Swords are available to equip immediately, though weapons in the “Bonus” category will require a specific skill located in the skill trees of one of the four fighting styles. Each weapon type has its own skill too.
Upgrade Materials – The materials you receive to upgrade your weapons and equipment will only come into play in Chapter 3, when you unlock the ability to use the Blacksmith.
Outfits – You’ll be able to change outfits at any time from your room in the Teradaya Inn, meaning you can dress up as Kazuma Kiryu from Chapter 2.
Troopers – Trooper Cards will only come into play in Chapter 5, when you unlock command of the Third Division and are able to access battle dungeons. Once you’ve unlocked the Third Division, you can equip and upgrade your trooper cards either at the Shinsengumi barracks or through the Pause menu.
Inventory Items – The Third Division Armament Expansion Kit includes 5 Gold Plates and 2 Promotion Jewels, which all go straight into your inventory, so make sure you have 7 spaces in your inventory before redeeming that pack. The Promotion Jewels are tied to the Troopers, so aren’t useful until Chapter 5, but the Gold Plates can be sold immediately at an Ebisu Pawn shop for a healthy injection of Virtue and cash.

Like A Dragon: Ishin is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
