The Yakuza/Like A Dragon titles have always featured some elements that were a little bit out there, but Like A Dragon: Ishin probably goes one step further than the rest with its Another Life mode, which lets Sakamoto Ryoma take some time away from the city and political intrigue of the main story, and instead grow some vegetables on a farm. If a Like A Dragon cozy game isn’t enticing enough for you, you can even find some pets to help live with you on the farm.
Here’s what you need to know about how to obtain some pets for you farm.
Like A Dragon: Ishin Pet Locations
Once you’ve unlocked the Another Life portion of the game in Chapter 4, you’ll be able to find cats and dogs as you wander around Kyo. You may also need to construct the appropriate accomodations for both cats and dogs at the farm, using the Virtue shrines.
The map above will let you know where to find the pets in question, but you’ll need to befriend each animal as well in order to take them back with you to your farm. Here’s what you need to do to befriend each pet.
C1 (The Lucky Cat):Â Near the temple on Karasuma Street, you’ll find a cat in the corner, along with a man who’ll hype up the fortune-giving potential of said cat. For just a small cash donation, you’ll receive- well, let’s not spoil things. Just keep making donations, leaving and returning between each one, and see what happens. Eventually, you’ll be one cat richer.
C2 (The Hungry Cat):Â In East Umekojicho, near the Gunman dojo, you’ll encounter a stray cat who’s kind of starving. Feed the cat a fish, which you’ve either caught or bought from a local fishmonger, then leave for a while before coming back to repeat the process, and eventually you’ll max out your bond with this cat.
C3 (The Clumsy Cat): In South Yashikimachi, right next to the boatman who takes you to your farm, you’ll find a cat perched on a piece of wood. As the name would imply, the clumsy oaf keeps falling in the river, so interact with it and Ryoma will take the cat to the bathhouse to get cleaned. Leave and return later, and the cat will be dirty again. Repeat the process a few times and Ryoma will just say enough and ship the cat off to the farm, far away from any rivers.
D1 (The Barking Dog): Just off of Shijo Street, right next to the Ebisu Pawn shop, you’ll find a yapping litte dog that’s become the bane of all the humans living next to him. In order to shut the dog up, you need to give him a bone. Do this a few times and you’ll be able to take the loudmouth back with you to the farm.
D2 (The Injured Dog): In Mukurogai, the slum-like area of Kyo, you’ll find this dog in a bad way in the open square of the area. Naturally, you’ll need to give the dog some medicine or other healing items in order to help the dog. After going through this a few times, you’ll eventually find the reason why the dog keeps getting injured. Take care of that bothersome little problem and the dog is yours.
D3 (The Patient Dog):Â In the north end of Yashikimachi, you’ll find a dog lying down on a set of stairs. The dog is wearing a tag, but no one seems to be coming. Keep giving the dog some food items, leaving for a while between each visit, and you’ll eventually be able to take this little pupper back with you to the farm.
