Jobs are one of the most important parts of the combat of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, as they’re what allow you to grow and develop your skills beyond just levelling up your party members. While there’s a pool of jobs that characters can select from, depending on if they’re male or female, along with their personal job they start with, Ichiban Kasuga has three personal jobs that he can choose from. Two of them, Freelancer and Hero, are unlocked as part of the main story, but the third job, Sujimancer, requires a bit of work to unlock.
In order to unlock the Sujimancer job, you first need to unlock the Sujimon League side story in Chapter 4. During this side story, you’ll be taught how to compete in Sujimon Battles, as well as the ability to catch Sujimon after you defeat them while exploring Honolulu. You’ll also be introduced to the Discreet Four, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s riff on the Elite Four, just in case you weren’t clear on this being a Pokemon parody. Also, don’t ask why there’s five members of the Discreet Four.
Anyway, you’ll need to reach Trainer Level 10 in order to challenge the first member of the Discreet Four, Jack. Challenge rival trainers and level up your Sujimon and you’ll be able to take on Jack in a Sujimon Battle. Defeat him, and you’ll unlock Bronze level Sujimon battles, and most crucially, the Sujimancer job for Ichiban.
Unfortunately, if you defeat Jack while you’re still in Chapter 4, you still won’t be able to select the Sujimancer job, as the ability to swap jobs for each of your characters is only unlocked in Chapter 5. Once you gain access to the Aloha Happy Tours agency, you can switch jobs for all of your characters, meaning you can apply the Sujimancer job to Kasuga.
The Sujimancer Job itself is perhaps the most unique one in the whole of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, as instead of equipping weapons, you equip five of your captured Sujimon, who you’ll use to cast a variety of elemental spells. Blaze, Frost and Light Sujimon deal fire, ice and lightning damage respectively, while Nature Sujimon affect healing spells, and Shadow Sujimon inflict status ailments. The stronger your Sujimon are, the more powerful Kasuga becomes with this job, so if you’ve beaten the Discreet Four and you’re looking for a great way to exploit a boss’ elemental weaknesses, this is the job for you.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
