205 Live News: Kushida Makes His Main Roster Debut

Great scott!

Last night, NXT superstar Kushida made his first appearance on main roster programming in front of a hot Madison Square Garden crowd on 205 Live. ‘The Time Splitter’ made waves as part of NJPW’s Junior Heavyweight division, so it makes perfect sense for his talents to be included as part of WWE’s Cruiserweight division.

Kushida teamed with Jack Gallagher to face down the mainstay team of Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa. Gallagher called upon his fellow technician to bring the fight with an array of exciting submission and mat-based skills. Kushida was a natural fit between the purple ropes and we look forward to seeing where his career takes him from here on.

As far as we’re aware, Kushida will continue to appear on NXT as part of their new TV deal with USA Network. Many of NXT’s young high-fliers have made brief cameos on 205 Live over the past year, yet carried on working as part of the developmental brand; Roderick Strong, Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott and Raul Mendoza, just to name a few.

Perhaps we’ll see Kushida renew his rivalry with current Cruiserweight champ Drew Gulak in the coming weeks. Who else would you like to see ‘The Time Splitter’ match up against? Let us know in the comments below.
