As first reported by WrestlingInc, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has reportedly been sidelined with an injury.
Details regarding what his injury is, and whether he’ll be taken out of the main event of Extreme Rules are currently unknown. However what we can say is that this is horrific news for Kofi, who’s currently living in his career-defining run.
The news broke at last night’s live event in Glenn Falls, New York. Kofi was scheduled to work the main event against Dolph Ziggler, but announced at the top of the show that he’d be unable to compete due to a sustained injury. Kingston was able to accompany his New Day stablemates to ringside and keep paying fans happy after the show.
We’ll keep up-to-date with news regarding Sunday’s pay-per-view, whether the WWE Championship will be vacated and details of Kofi’s return date. Fingers crossed this is only minor, and the Kofi/Joe main event will go ahead as planned.
