Keanu Reeves Plays A Grieving Scientist In New Replicas Trailer

Keanu Reeves makes a triumphant return to sci-fi in the new trailer for Replicas, which can be viewed below. The film was written by Chad St. John and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and will be released in Holland on December 6, although international release dates have not been confirmed.

Replicas takes place in a utilitarian future where the needs of society are prioritized over the needs of the individual. Reeves plays a scientist named Will Foster who loses his family in a tragic car accident, but soon finds that he will have the option of bringing three of his four family members back to life in clone bodies, meaning he will ultimately have to choose which one remains dead. The trailer also shows that there will be themes of artificial intelligence rebelling against its makers, similar to this year’s acclaimed sci-fi horror film, Upgrade.

Alice Eve will star as Will’s wife, Mona Foster, while Thomas Middleditch will star as Ed Whittle, a scientist who helps him create the clone bodies. The supporting cast will include Emily Alyn Lind, Emjay Anthony, and Nyasha Hatendi.

Despite being filmed all the way back in 2016, Replicas has been sitting on the shelf for the last few years, although the fact that it was picked up by distributor Entertainment Studios after being screened at the Toronto International Film Festival means that you probably won’t have too long to wait before it arrives on a screen near you.
