Jude Law in Talks to Play Captain Hook in Live-Action Remake of Peter Pan

First Dumbledore, now Captain Hook? Jude Law truly has range.

According to Variety, Disney’s upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy movie is looking to cast Jude Law as the villainous Captain Hook. Jude Law recently played the villain in Disney and Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel. If selected, he will join the ranks of Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs and Garrett Hedlund. It was rumoured that Joaquin Phoenix was initially being considered for the role, but now that we have moved on to Law that ship has probably sailed.

If cast, Law will join the current cast of Ever Anderson and Alexander Molony, who will play Wendy and Peter Pan respectively. That would settle most of the major roles, with the only one left to fill being that of Tinkerbell.

The animated version of Peter Pan was first released in 1953, and this live-action remake falls along with Disney’s recent trend of updating their animated classics by giving them the live-action treatment. The live-action reimagining of the animated classic has been in development for years, with David Lowery signing on to direct in 2016. There wasn’t much news since then, until the film picked up steam at the beginning of 2020, going into pre-production before the coronavirus hit.

The film, when completed, will get a theatrical release, and not a Disney Plus roll-out as previously rumoured. But it will be a few more years before we get to see this live-action remake on the big screen.
