Johnny Greenwood is Taking the Score for There Will Be Blood on Tour

Film scores are prime gig territory at the moment, whether you’re walking the film with a live orchestra or just the music sans-film, it’s a pretty magical way to spend an evening. Magical might not necessarily be the best term for this though – Radiohead member and accomplished composer Johnny Greenwood is taking his score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood on a UK tour.

The film will be screening with live accompaniment from the London Contemporary Orchestra, no word yet on whether or not Greenwood himself will appear to conduct. Anyone who’s seen the film or is even remotely familiar with Greenwood’s work outside of Radiohead will tell you that it’s a sparse, startling, sinister affair. If this were just the score, I might actually advise avoiding this experience, but seeing such a powerful film with an orchestra guiding you through it borders on unmissable.

Here are the dates:

January 30th – London – Southbank
February 5th – Birmingham – Birmingham Symphony Hall
February 6th – Brighton – The Dome
February 7th – Bristol – Colston Hall

If you do go, be sure to order a milkshake at the intermission.
