Is Deathloop Open World?

It's not open to interpretation.

Deathloop is a game with massive, open environments and a little bit of openness in terms of how you approach your objectives and in what order, but is it also open world?

No, Deathloop is not open world. Instead, players drop into four different sandbox maps at different times of day to complete different objectives. While the maps are pretty large, you are not openly able to explore every inch of them, with you also having to load in and out of each map. Just like the Dishonored games, Deathloop is more sandbox than it is open world.

Those hoping for an open world Arkane game (and who could blame you) can still discover loads of content, missions, and fights across Deathloop’s maps, though. There’s tonne of things to see and do in Deathloop, especially when there are four different times of day to play in that remixes the maps and shows you something that you otherwise might have missed.

Don’t also forget the chance to play as Julianna instead of Colt and truly ruin your friend’s day.

So while Deathloop isn’t open world, that’s no reason not to dive into its world and see how many AEONs of your time it hoovers up.

Deathloop is available on PC and PS5.
