IO Interactive Confirm A New Hitman Game Is In The Works

Hitman

Coming shortly after the announcement of Hitman – Game of the Year Edition, IO Interactive have wasted no time in confirming that we will be seeing a new Hitman game soon.

Speaking in a blog post, IO CEO Hakan Abrak mentioned that something was currently in the works but did not specify if it was a new season for the 2016 reboot or something new entirely. Considering the framework for a great Hitman experience has already been built, it might be a better choice to make the second season out of a previously confirmed three for a now independent publisher and developer.

Abrak said the following:

“One last thing about our next Hitman game; I want to let you know that we’re making great progress and we have exciting new features and some franchise firsts, which we can’t wait to tell you all about. You’ll have to wait a little longer as we don’t plan to start talking about that until some point in 2018.”

In the same blog update, Abrak mentions that the Hitman reboot has now been played by seven million players. Even if a large part of that is made up of those who’ve played the free Intro pack, that’s still a decent figure for what is effectively a niche game.

The GOTY edition of Hitman includes all of the episodes from the game’s first season and a couple of new bits of content. Hitman: The Complete First Season also came out earlier in the year, so you have had plenty of time to pick it up if you haven’t yet.

While we wait for further news on 47’s next killventures in 2018 (which is basically tomorrow at the speed that 2-17 is ebbing away), why not check out some of our suggestions for where season 2 could take place?
