AJ Styles dethroned one of the most controversial champions in recent memory on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, capturing the WWE Championship for the second time in his career. With no Singh Brothers to interfere, fans in attendance went absolutely nuts for the three seconds following a Phenomenal forearm to The Modern Day Maharaja, creating a piece of history that many UK fans will look back on fondly.
This also confirms that we’ll be getting AJ vs Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a week’s time, a dream match for many fans that will surely deliver a big fight feel.
Perhaps this is WWE’s way of an apology for not providing UK audiences with enough of a fix over the years? I’d put my money on a UK pay-per-view being announced within the next year. Maybe not Wrestlemania, but it seems we’re already being treated to a hell of a lot more than we’re used to.
